What's the best way to cook 500g of veggies: Multi Cooker, Boiling, or Air Fryer?

I have an Insta Pot as the multi cooker. I want to add more veggies to my meals but don’t want to make my home hotter than it already is. So, I’m not keen on stir-frying. I need an easy, low-calorie meal that I can make daily with minimal utensils and cleanup. Should I just throw them in the air fryer? What are the best options for this?

Try roasting the veggies in the air fryer with a bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper.

I don’t buy this suggestion. It seems more likely that people knew veggies were healthy and asked, ‘How can we make this more enjoyable?’

The air fryer is great for veggies. You could also add some broth to make a quick soup.

Throw in some potatoes and you’ve got yourself a stew.

It depends on what veggies you’re cooking. Some veggies take longer than others. Cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and mushrooms roast well. But I wouldn’t roast broccoli or carrots. Steaming works for most veggies but you’d have to season them after cooking.

Air fryers throw a lot of hot air into your kitchen, kind of like a hair dryer. A microwave is probably the least heat-leaking method. A multi cooker is insulated and doesn’t leak much heat, especially in pressure cooker mode. Regular ovens can work, but if it’s an old one with leaky seals, it’s not great. But, do you care more about heat or flavor?

I’d steam the veggies, but air frying is great if you want them crispy.

The Instant Pot has its own app full of recipes, which might be useful.

I love using my Instant Pot to make big batches of beans, then freezing them in containers for easy reheating. It’s also great for soups and stews. If you have a steamer basket, you can steam veggies in the Instant Pot without adding much heat to your house. For most vegetables, I avoid boiling because it’s less flavorful and nutritious. My grandfather uses his air fryer every night to cook veggies like zucchini, sweet potatoes, and mushrooms. He also cooks extra veggies on the stove, like steamed broccoli or sautéed asparagus.

Don’t you have a microwave?

Microwaving veggies helps keep the water-soluble vitamins intact.

Microwave works well.

How you cook veggies really depends on what kind you’re using. Are they frozen or fresh? Simple? I wouldn’t recommend air frying unless the veggies are breaded, but it might work. Most methods will add about the same heat to your house, but I can’t speak for your specific appliance. Personally, I’d go with steaming if you’re cooking a side of raw or frozen veggies.

You don’t need to bread veggies to air fry them; just a little oil will do.
