That’s fair enough, there are vegan honey recipes that taste more like actual honey. I don’t mean to nitpick, but date syrup really doesn’t taste like honey.

You’re right that date syrup doesn’t taste exactly like honey. But if you’ve had the regular Honey Chili Potato, I promise you won’t notice much of a difference. This vegan version is pretty close to the original in flavor. So, let’s just focus on the recipe here and how it still captures that same taste!

In Middle Eastern food, date syrup is sometimes called ‘date honey’. It’s even the name of a Wikipedia article. It’s not common in the U.S., but it’s been used as ‘date honey’ in many places.
