There is a little coffee shop around the corner from my house. I am starting to think they are messing with me or I am just going crazy. When I get food from there I always ask nicely for no meat, no eggs, no animal products etc. I was last there around June and ordered a veggie wrap. When I got home it was nothing but eggs. Weird, I just returned it and carried on. Today I went back and ordered the sweet potato burrito. I asked if there was meat, egg, or animal products in it, and they said no. They give me my to-go box and I walk home. I sit down and open the box and it’s just an egg sandwich. Bread and egg nothing else, weird. I walk over and tell them no big deal. I requested again, no animal products, meat, eggs, please. They acknowledged that and say no problem. So then they give me a new to-do box. As I am walking down the street I think I should check on it. It’s an egg sandwich again?! I turned around and returned it and this time just left it as it was late and I lost my patience. Before this, I would not order much breakfast there and when I did they would also do the same thing, just give me eggs even if there was no egg in the menu item description. This is a local shop with maybe 6 employees all adults. Has anyone ever had an experience like this?
To alert vegans, post reviews on Happy Cow and Google Maps.
The workers, including what appeared to be a manager, at a small, well-known breakfast restaurant in a tourist area did not know the difference between a vegetarian, a vegan, and a person with celiac disease.
When I showed them the English language on the “I Am a Vegan” app, they gave it a close look and made comments about all the things that vegans could not eat. The fact that they were ignorant of the food options available to vegans genuinely shocked me.
You should open it up at the counter and return it to them if you ever go back. And query WHY an egg sandwich was served to you. Examine it prior to departing.
I agree; after they make a mistake once, they’re just nasty jackasses.
Why would you not verify your order before leaving the shop, given that you have placed wrong orders multiple times?
That is strange. It’s evident that they are playing you, and I wonder if the owner is aware of this. If they don’t, you should strive to find out and inform them.
The staff obviously don’t care, so please leave a review to let others know about this. When visiting new locations, I personally make it a point to read reviews, especially if the establishment isn’t entirely vegan. If I saw a review like this, I would personally avoid it. You brought it up to them several times and provided them opportunities to make amends, even if the first two times were errors. I would be confused for the remainder of the day, so I sincerely apologize that you had to go through this. How strange.

The news that a vegan girl died as a result of a restaurant error makes me very sad. Despite having made it apparent that she was allergic to dairy, she was regrettably given a tainted meal.
I’m not sure where you’re from, but you ought to report this food tampering right away.
To be honest, the owner probably wants to know how their staff is raising the costs associated with food waste for the company.
Like, what is the ultimate objective of the staff—bankruptcy-related closure?
Maybe it’s time to send an email.
Since other vegans need to know not to go there, I would write a calm review about your experience because it really sounds like they are playing tricks on you. tampering with someone’s food in this manner is wrong.
