I am sure this question has been asked many times here, so I apologise in advance.
I am transitioning into veganissim, I would say I am 99%, the 1% I still screw Up with is sometimes forget to read lables of products I think are vegan but reading the label after there can be found traces of milk or egg etc, so yes almost vegan
Anyways, I have been vegetariana for half of my Life, didnt eat eggs or dsiry but was a complete cheese addict, and the smellier the better… It was always my comfort food, though I didnt eat It every day, but yes definiatly my little addiction.
Since I gave it Up I still crave It, I wouldnt eat It again but I would love a vegan alternative that actually hits the spot.
I tried some brands, home made some but It never hit the spot.
Does anyone other ex cheese lover have a brand that actually tastes good or maybe a home made alternative?
Excellent cashew-based cheese is available at nuts for cheese! Because it spreads, I use it for charcuterie boards. I believe Whole Foods has it as well as Fresh Thyme.
I haven’t tried Miyoko’s other cheeses yet, but their cashew cream cheese is seriously delicious and addictive. I recently went vegan as well, and while I dislike most vegan cheeses, this cream cheese is excellent!
I think dairy cheddar shreds and Follow Your Heart’s cheddar shreds are really similar. It stretches, melts well, and becomes chewy if you overcook it. Although it’s best melted, for the past few years, it has been my go-to. One other thing that really helped me during the first few months of turning vegan was making my own cheese sauces.
The Cathedral City plant-based cheddar is excellent; it’s by far the closest thing to real cheddar I’ve ever had, however I’m not sure if it’s sold in your nation.
