I tried looking up ways to get a greasier pizza, but all I could find were tips for reducing grease or just ‘add pepperoni.’ How can I make my pizza really greasy without using pepperoni?
Try sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil or drizzle herb oil on top. Full-fat mozzarella is a must—skip the part-skim kind for sure.

My partner adds sun-dried tomatoes in oil to our homemade pizzas, and it makes a big difference in flavor and grease.
Lots of cheese and a little extra oil can work wonders.
I sauté mushrooms in olive oil with salt and herbs. When you add them to pizza, they release oil as they cook. For cheese, try fresh mozzarella with a bit of low-moisture mozzarella for structure. Roasted garlic in oil is great too, and marinated kalamata olives add a bit of that oiliness you’re looking for.
Maybe try brushing the dough with olive oil or butter. We had these garlic oil-coated pizza bites that were delicious and super greasy!
I use Italian chili oil. If I’m making vegan pepperoni, I cook it in that oil before adding it to the pizza for extra greasiness.
Pepperoni is super high in fat, so adding some oil on top can mimic that greasiness.

Exactly. If you want greasy pizza, just add more oil.
I only see non-greasy pizza with frozen or homemade healthier versions. Maybe try vegan sausage? I also saw some people suggest fresh mozzarella over low-moisture, but I haven’t tested it myself.
Even plain cheese pizza is oily! Just grab one from Costco.
The grease mostly comes from the cheese. Try a cheese-loaded pizza for that extra greasiness.
Caramelized onions in olive oil or high-quality butter add a lot of flavor and grease. I also add balsamic glaze and fresh herbs. If you’re not doing vegan, use real butter and enjoy the greasiness!
I’ve never had a pizza that wasn’t greasy.

I mean with little puddles of grease on it.

Try using a harder cheese as the final topping. It melts into fat quickly. Cheddar or asiago cheese works well, and whole milk mozzarella is way greasier than the part-skim stuff.

Have you ever tried cheese pizza from Costco? They’re pretty greasy.
@Mckinley
I used to work at Costco, and they definitely rely on pepperoni grease for that effect.

Higher fat cheese is the answer.
I make my pizza sauce from tomato paste with lots of oil and cheese. You get tons of grease that way!
