I don’t eat out a lot but when I do it’s always work related so I can’t choose the place, obviously at a non vegan restaurant and I always end up ordering the vegan option or nothing at all. But even if I’m told it has no animal products I doubt how the kitchen handles ingredients and communication between waiters and cooks, or misinformation about what is vegan, including sneaky ingredients. I try to avoid eating at non vegan places but what are your thoughts about it?
Usually, I believe it.
However, I don’t inquire. I simply request food that is clearly free of animal ingredients. As long as my meal doesn’t contain any animal products, I don’t care how it’s prepared. I acknowledge that I have no influence over it beyond that. I trust my team to prepare my food as advertised, therefore I know I made the right decision.
I don’t have any expectations if I have to make a particular request. Usually, I’d prefer to just ask for fruit, french fries, or anything like.
I think it’s critical to understand that you can never be a perfect vegan and that, in the end, what matters is doing your best.

No, because I’ve had a few bad experiences at places like this. Once at Taco Bus in Tampa, I ordered 2 vegan tacos. I polished off the first one, then as I opened the second taco, I noticed the “meat” was completely different looking than the other taco I just ate. So I didn’t know if I ate the meat version or not, but just spit out what I had left in my mouth and gagged a bit, tried washing my mouth out and definitely threw away the second taco. Usually, I would bring it to the manager, but just threw it away and walked out in disgust
I suggest selecting “dairy and egg allergy” for the vegetarian choice if the establishment doesn’t clearly provide vegan options. Then, rather than just saying, “Shrug good enough,” they need to take it seriously and let me know if there’s an issue finding an actual vegan choice.

I will eat at non-vegan places if it’s for someone’s birthday for example but I never trust the place really. Just last month went out with my sister and ordered the vegan mushroom and garlic tart, came out covered in cheese and I was like “is this vegan? I ordered vegan and it didn’t say anything about vegan cheese on top” and the lady was all “yes yes it’s vegan”. But I just knew looking at it it wasn’t so asked another server and they were like “oh my god no sorry that’s not vegan!” and took it away. For dessert I ordered vegan apple pie and vegan ice cream. My ice cream looked exactly the same as my sister’s dairy ice cream so questioned it again and the lady was certain it was vegan again, I asked her to double check, it was dairy. Sorry for rambling but long story short, I don’t ever really trust non-vegan places to eat!
In general, vegetarian, no; omnivore, no. Even in a posh restaurant where I worked as a waiter once, there was too much cross-contamination for me to tolerate.
I was a back-of-house worker once. NO. they do not have the time to make your dish without contamination. Because of this, I rarely eat out and only order foods that I know are prepared individually.
To be honest, not at all. Unless it’s a pizzeria and I can easily tell if the pizza has cheese or not, in which case we can give it to our mother and have a replacement sent for free as a result of the error. I will ONLY gamble at that restaurant.
