I sometimes think of a video short on YouTube I once encountered of Brett Cooper, a far right, generally mean spirited commentator. She was claiming that being a vegan will destroy a woman’s curves, and showed a few skinny vegan women as “proof.”
I’m not sure my curvy ass has ever heard anything crazier, so what have you heard?
that we receive payment to promote veganism on social media. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I haven’t gotten my check from Big Beans yet for the article I wrote on a nearby wildlife refuge.
I find this to be very amusing! I’ve been vegan for three years, and although I don’t appear much slimmer, I do look less bloated. The assertion that vegans exclusively consume salads and veggies irritates me the most. If I didn’t say so, most people wouldn’t even know that my vegan dish is always more popular than the non-vegan ones.
that we won’t stop talking about our veganism. I know so many shy vegans who don’t like to cause a big deal. I don’t often come across particularly vocal vegans.
However, many people who consume meat readily explain to you why it’s okay to do so.
Not everybody finds curves attractive. Personally, I disagree. what audience is she even trying to target with this?? What’s the point of this, anyhow, when being thin is often the standard of beauty set by society (which shouldn’t be the case, by the way).
that it is impossible for a person to be vegan for their entire life since they would not be considered vegan if they drank breast milk from humans as infants.
It was spoken directly in front of me, so it wasn’t quite a lie, but it was a wild misinterpretation, and I nearly couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
My mother claimed that I was stupid*, had lost all of my brain cells, and was so naive as to believe that I was a cow rather than a person because, presumably, only cows could thrive on a plant-based diet. She spoke with complete sincerity and conviction, having faith in every word. Since it was personal, I’m not sure if this qualifies as a lie about vegans, but this is what she thought about veganism and my desire to become one, so at least it’s a half point.
