Hi! Does anyone know of any store brands that have spicy vegetarian ramen? Most of what I find is barely spicy, and I really love my ramen to be super hot.
Not sure about specific brands, but have you tried adding Ra-yu or La-yu? It’s a chili oil often used in Japanese food to add a nice kick.

Oh, that sounds interesting! I’ve never heard of it. Thanks for the tip!
@Jordan
No problem! S&B is a popular brand for chili oil. You can find it at most Asian grocery stores.
Have you tried Bul Ramen? They have a spicy chicken flavor that’s actually vegetarian. I checked the ingredients a few times, and there’s no real chicken—just a warning, though, it’s pretty hot!

I totally agree! Bul Dak ramen is super spicy. It’s just spices and MSG for flavor.

Nice! I used to love Shin Ramen before going vegetarian, but it has fish and meat in it. I’ll look for Bul Ramen next time!
@Jordan
They actually make a vegan version of Shin Ramen! Haven’t tried the original, but the vegan one is pretty tasty.

Just a heads-up: some artificial flavors aren’t technically vegetarian. It depends on how strict you are about it.
Samyang Buldak 2x Spicy Artificial Chicken Flavor is another option.

Yep, this one’s great! I usually add mushrooms, tofu, cabbage, a bit of sesame oil, and some green onions to it.
I just buy the chili flavor ramen from regular grocery stores and add extra spice if I need more heat!

I was so excited when they came out with that flavor! Crazy that even the soy one wasn’t vegetarian before.
@Oli
Weird! Where I live, both the chili and soy sauce flavors say they’re vegetarian. The soy one’s been hard to find, though, and it’s driving me nuts!
@Oli
It could be the Top Ramen brand specifically—they label it as veggie: https://www.nissinfoods.com/product/top-ramen/top-ramen-soy-sauce/
I like using Trader Joe’s miso ramen and adding my own spice. Chili oil is easy to make or I just add cayenne pepper.
Ramen Express is vegan and tastes really good.

And it’s super cheap! Total game-changer for me.
Just add some chili oil or hot sauce to whatever you’re using.
Indomie Mi Goreng Hot & Spicy is pretty hot. There was also a citrus/lemon ramen I found at an Indian store that was insanely spicy—almost too much!
