Hello vegantalkpoint.com)! I’m getting married next year in a very meat centric country, and I’d like to have a somewhat elegant menu for the dinner. I have a lot of veggie/vegan friends and although we will be catering to meat eaters too, I’d like to add several veggie and vegan choices that aren’t afterthoughts and hopefully meat eaters will consider choosing. I hate going to restaurants where the only meatless options are plain salads, basic pastas, and veggie curries, so I’m hoping you guys might know some vegan dishes that are impressive enough for a wedding without relying on meat alternatives.
We’ve already settled on breads, veggies, and dips like hummus and baba ganoush for cocktail hour, but we are struggling with starters/mains for the sit down dinner. Any ideas? I’d like to have some options in mind before we start testing caterers.
Bring on the falafel and eggplant schnitzel if you’ve already eaten hummus and baba ganoush. You could also have salads; among other things, we had dolmas, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted pepper salad, beet salad, and carrot salad. There was a ton of food at our enormous buffet.
This week, I went out to eat with some coworkers. They had several fantastic vegan alternatives, so I wish I had taken pictures. My first course consisted of an incredible sauced asparagus dish that was elegantly garnished with little flowers. The main course, a pastry parcel filled with sweet potatoes, was once more exquisitely presented. The dish was modeled after an Erin mess, complete with berries, plant cream, and swirls of aqua faba meringue. The omnivores sitting there with their chicken were wishing they had the vegan main because it was so beautiful and tasty.
It’s possible to make vegan meat that tastes and looks just like real meat in many cases. - pulled pork, roast beef with mushrooms, and jackfruit ribs… check out the many talented vegan chefs on Instagram.
This caterer is vegan. I agree with this ✆️. It would be simpler for the caterers to execute your cuisine if you maintain consistency with the concept.
